Language Support for International Graduate Students and Postdocs at Dartmouth
Dartmouth provides language support to international graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in academic writing, presentations, and daily communication.
Resources
- Graduate Student Tutors: Through Dartmouth’s Writing Center international graduate students and postdocs can schedule one-on-one sessions with trained peer tutors who offer personalized assistance. For more information about current tutors, the services they provide, and instructions on scheduling a session, please visit the Graduate Sessions.
- Guarini Multilingual Specialist: Elizabeth (Betsy) Tremmel, the Guarini multilingual specialist, offers individualized support for international graduate students and postdocs. You can arrange appointments to discuss:
- written and oral academic texts (e.g., course assignments, abstracts, papers for publication, theses, presentations)
- job application materials (e.g., resume/CV, cover letter, diversity statement, interviews), and
- everyday communication (e.g., email, daily conversation)
To set up an appointment, please email Betsy directly at elizabeth.c.tremmel@dartmouth.edu. In your email, describe the nature of your project, the kind of support you need, and your availability for a meeting.
Please note that the language support offered by graduate student tutors and the Guarini Multilingual Specialist does not include copyediting or proofreading services.
