Postdoc Professional Development Award

As part of Dartmouth’s ongoing commitment to support and improve the career and professional development of our postdoctoral scholars, the Dartmouth Postdoctoral Association (DPA) has worked with Dean F. Jon Kull to identify and secure funding to support postdoctoral researchers for activities that directly enhance the individual’s professional growth.

Each eligible postdoc may apply for a one-time award of up to $750.00 to reimburse costs associated with an upcoming professional development activity.

Eligibility information and application is available here.

This commitment recognizes that the postdoctoral training period is a crucial time in the development of postdoctoral researchers as scholars. However, the nature of a postdoctoral position makes it difficult for most individuals to obtain funding for professional development that does not align directly with the goals of the lab/position in which the individual is hired and that increasingly there is a need and desire for postdocs to engage in professional development activities that augment their training and best position them for an increasingly competitive job market.

Graduate students can find information on research and travel funding, including the traveling for conferences on research and professional development funds under academic support.
