What Are Externships?
Guarini Externships provide a valuable opportunity for graduate students to gain firsthand experience and explore potential career paths. This “day-in-the-life” experience pairs you with Guarini alumni to learn about different roles, industries, and workplace cultures—either in person or via Zoom.
How to Participate:
The Guarini Externship Program is held annually. Graduate students sign up with the Guarini Career Office in November, and externships take place in December. Keep an eye out for announcements via email and the Guarini Career Office’s channels.
Eligibility:
All current Guarini graduate students
Benefits of Participating:
- Gain real-world insights into career paths and industries
- Build your professional network
- Learn directly from Guarini alumni about their roles, responsibilities, and workplace cultures
How It Works: Step-by-Step
- Sign Up in November: Indicate your interest and provide your top three preferences for alumni to meet with.
- Get Matched: The Guarini Career Office will manually match you with an alum based on your preferences.
- Reach Out: You will receive an email with the alum’s contact information and instructions. It is your responsibility to contact the alum and arrange a meeting time.
- Meet and Learn: Meetings can take place in person or via Zoom. The length of the externship depends on what you and the alum agree on—it can be a one-hour Zoom call or a full-day visit to their workplace.
