Welcome to GuariniGRAD!
Graduate education has been central to my work for most of my career – as a teacher, researcher, mentor, and administrator. Stepping into this role as dean of the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies is a privilege, and I’m eager to build on what this community has already created together.
GuariniGRAD brings together a constellation of resources from across Dartmouth to support your academic, professional, and personal growth. Use this site as a hub to find the programs, resources, and people who will help you thrive here.
As dean, I am committed to ensuring that the Guarini School continues to grow as a place where every graduate student and postdoctoral scholar can find the support they need to do their best work and to build the life they want alongside it.
Building on the strong foundation this community has established, we will continue to invest in academic and research excellence, career development across the full range of pathways our scholars pursue, interdisciplinary training that connects you with peers and mentors across Dartmouth, and a culture of wellness and community that recognizes graduate education as both an intellectual and a human endeavor.

Dartmouth is at the leading edge of fields shaping the future—from artificial intelligence to climate and cold regions, from neuroscience and mental health to the arts and humanities—and our graduate students and postdocs are central to that work. I am excited to expand the reach and impact of Guarini in the years ahead and do it with you.
Thank you for being part of this community. I look forward to getting to know you and seeing the impact of your work.
Carrie Hoverman Colla ’01
